Many buy enchanting mats for honor.
That is okay, but that is a waste of honor points. There are a couple of things you can do that are much more profitable.
Once upon a time, when I was on Lich King, it was impossible to disenchant honor gear, you couldn’t even sell it back to vendor, you could just delete it. Only exception were the gear you could buy for “venture points” in Venture Bay on Grizzly Hills (that you now can buy for honor as well as long as your faction controls Venture Bay).
Now, you can disenchant any Honor Gear and there are a couple of very profitable schemes (prices depend on server and competition, of course)
The best to buy is the Sergeant’s Cape. It costs 55 honors and disenchants into Large Brilliant Shards, which generally sell for around 30 gold.
Then you have the Wrathful Gladiator’s Off-Hand weapon. It costs 190 honors and disenchants into Abyss Crystall (you can shatter it into Infinite Dust and Greater Cosmic Essence). This generally sells for around 70 gold.
If you have the guild perk Bountiful Bagd, you might get even more than one out of each disenchant.
